Not bad – tight fit and velcro latch is too loud for hunting, October 20, 2009

Used it sheep hunting in MT. Attaches easily and securely to backback strap – good there. Case is too tight though, hard to get GPS out. Forget about using the battery storage built in – if you do, you can’ get the GPS out of the case. I ended up tying a short loop of cord throuh the top loop of the GPS to be able to quickly extract the unit from the case. Other issue with hunting is the large velcro secured flap that covers and stows the GPS. It’s LOUD when opening – I’m considering modifying it with a snap-lock buckle. Really, you don’t need the velcro strap – the unit fits snug enough not to need it.

Case is not perfect, January 14, 2010

This carrying case needs a little help. The pockets for extra batteries need covers or velcro flaps to keep the batteries from falling out!!

case, January 30, 2010

I don’t understand the issues that I read concerning the DeLorme fittin to tight in this case, much less putting batteries where they belong. Everything fit just like it should and worked great. The only issue was that the bealt clip was a little difficult to get on and off the bealt but not bad enough that you would get upset. Hope this helps.

Nice Quality, but poor design, December 14, 2009

Nice, well made case, but unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviews. The word snug would be an understatement – you can barely manage to get the PN-40 out. I then placed one AA battery in each side pocket (as it was designed for), & could not get the PN-40 in nor out of the case. Sorry, but it’s going back.

Snug Fit, December 5, 2009

This is an excellent little item for the PN Series Gpsr. The belt holder is very secure and best of all: It swivels. I have found it to be best worn in a horizontal manner. The velcro strap stays in place even though the gpsr won’t fall out due to the snug fit. I use a lanyard to help with extraction of the unit. All in all, a very worthy product.

Perfect Fit, January 27, 2010

A perfect fit for my DeLorme Earthmate PN-40 Handheld GPS (1:100k Topographic, Detailed Street Maps & POIs Included). The belt clip allows for rotation and the canvas of the case is tough. Good way to wear your GPS on your hip during hiking or biking.

Decent, cheap holder for Delorme PN series GPS units, December 17, 2009

Not really much to say about this pouch. Works servicably for my Delorme PN-30 hand-held GPS. Decent padding. The amount of velcro is probably overkill. The clip is okay, but other mounting options (MOLLE) might have been nice. REALLY needs to come in different colors (at least Coyote, Foilage, and maybe ACU). Still, if you are looking for something to hold the oddly-shaped Delorme PN-series GPS unit, this works quite well.

DeLorme AF-7749-201 Earthmate PN Series Carrying Case, February 28, 2010

Case is well made, very durable. Belt clip is plastic, fits very securely over belt but is difficult to remove without undoing your belt. Attempting to remove the case from your belt by prying the clip open may cause it to break, or weaken it to where it may break prematurely. Also no room for the neck strap to fit inside the case. With proper use, this case should last indefinetly.

a good choice, December 20, 2009

After a lot of research I chose the Delorme Earthmate PN-40 GPS for my husband’s birthday. I wanted him to have a protective case for it. The case fit very snugly at first, but stretched just enough to let the unit slide in but stay secure. It think it’s an essential accessory for the GPS.

Sturdy but could be better designed., July 6, 2010

1. The case is well made. It should last the life of the GPS with the possible exception of the velcro. I am concerned that the wooly part may tear apart with time.
2. The case is too tight. Withdrawing the GPS is an effort even after the top flap has been pulled up. The markings on my GPS buttons are wearing off from rubbing on the case.
3. The case should have a clear face. The case for my old Magellan had a clear panel to allow reading and manipulating the GPS without removing it from the case. That case had a very reliable and secure mechanism to release the case from the belt clip when you wanted to view the GPS.

This case seems to be the only game in town for the DeLorme PN Series so I will live with it. It is a big step backward from the Magellan case. I do love the PN-40, however. It is much more capable than the Magellan SporTrak Topo.
