The Humminbird 161 Combo Fish Finder and GPS Combo is an all-in-one fish finder for the serious recreational angler that offers incredible ease of use and GPS chartplotting. The 161 is compact, but full of already built-in capabilities, with the ability to add advanced accessories, making it the perfect companion for your fishing outings.

The Humminbird 161 Combo provides full GPS navigation, chartplotting and sonar right out of the box. This unit has a built-in 16-channel WAAS GPS receiver, and a four nautical-mile resolution UniMap of USA inland lakes, rivers and coastal areas. The 161 uses a precision 20-degree sonar beam optimized for definition and coverage, and reliable down to 600 feet with a target separation of only 2.5 inches. This fish finder includes real-time sonar at up to 40 times per second, and Sonar Echo Enhancement sensitive enough to track a jig to over 40 feet. This unit’s high-speed, micro-dynamic transducer is reliable up to 70 mph, and even includes water temperature and GPS speed.

The 161 Combo has a high-contrast, 4-inch FTSN LCD screen with 640 x 320 lines of resolution in 16-level grayscale for crisp images with high visibility, and an adjustable backlight. This system features Bottom Lock and one-touch 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x zoom to enhance resolution and separate fish from structure, and X-Press Menus for faster access to important controls. This unit also features fresh and saltwater set-up options, TruArch for actual fish returns or selective Fish ID+ with target depth, a selectable large digital readout for easy viewing, and an adjustable backlight for night fishing, making it one of your most complete fish-finding systems.

The 161 Combo comes as a Transom Mount with a tilt-and-swivel, quick-disconnect mount system, for either Gimbal or in-dash mounting. This unit measures 5.25 x 7.4 x 4 inches (WxHxD) as a Gimbal mount, or when in-dash mounted requires three inches of behind-dash clearance. Providing such big performance, especially in such a compact design that is ideal for small spaces, the 161 Combo system also includes 750 waypoints, 20 routes, and 10 tracks with 2,000 points each. The pocket-size, lightweight, rugged SporTrak Topo is a great choice for hunters, hikers, mountain bikers, freshwater fishermen, off-road enthusiasts, and other outdoor adventurers. The 108 MB built-in topography database–derived from the U.S. Government Digital Elevation Model (DEM)–features contouring and elevation, as well as highways, major roads, waterways, and coastlines. The SporTrak Topo uses WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) and the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS) to provide excellent GPS accuracy and reliability, tracking up to 12 satellites to locate your position to within three meters.

Nine customizable graphic navigation screens include a map, compass, and speedometer with text readouts of heading, bearing, speed, direction, ETA, and more. Choose from 12 built-in coordinate systems and 76 datums, including latitude/longitude, universal transverse mercator, and military grid reference system. Plus you can store up to 20 routes, 500 waypoints, and 2,000 track points. The save track-to-route feature allows you to convert complicated track files into easy-to-follow routes. You can expand beyond the capacity of the SporTrak and save hundreds of routes by transferring them to a PC using optional Magellan MapSend software. PalmOne m130 Handheld Product Description

Product Description:

Palm’s m130 enters the handheld market as one of the least expensive color units available. Basically a colorized version of the earlier m125, the m130′s bright backlit screen displays 58,621 colors on its 160 x 160 pixel screen.

It also boasts an 8 MB memory with an expansion slot that accepts both MultiMediaCard (MMC) and Secure Digital (SD) cards for adding both memory and special applications. The SD card slot will also connect to SDIO (Secure Digital Input/Output) devices, including Bluetooth cards for wireless connectivity, and upcoming peripherals like digital cameras and bar code scanners.

You can also attach peripherals to the base of the unit via the Palm Universal Connector, which enables you to use the m130 with keyboards, modems, and GPS receivers that are also compatible with the i700 and m500 series handhelds.

The universal connector is where the handheld meets up with its USB cradle, which not only serves to sync up the m130, but to recharge its lithium-ion battery as well. On the highest setting (you can drop it down a notch in well-lit environments), the display backlight sucks juice at a moderate rate. But since the battery recharges at each sync-up, it’s not much of an issue. Even if you run out of battery life and your m130 shuts down, you have about a week to recharge it before you lose the data on your Palm.

Nicely contoured, with an attachable faceplate that flips up (letting you play Captain Kirk and Dr. Spock, if you’re so inclined), the 5.4-ounce m130 rests solidly in your left hand with the right manipulating its standard buttons and screen with the stylus. One complaint we did have with the m130: at the edges, the screen doesn’t appear to be as sensitive as in the middle and it can sometimes require a repeat tap with the stylus before it registers.

In addition to the standard Palm Desktop software, the m130′s impressive handheld software bundle includes Palm Reader (for taking e-books along with your Palm), DataViz’s Documents To Go (for viewing and editing Word and Excel files; Windows users can also view and edit PowerPoint documents), and MGI PhotoSuite Mobile Edition (for viewing images and videos on the full-color screen).

An IR port on the top of the m130 lets you beam contact information, such as your business card, or even an application, to another similarly equipped handheld.

An inexpensive color handheld with a decent amount of memory and lots of room for growth, the m130 makes a great PDA for users looking to add color to their portable world. –J. Curtis
